What you'll be doing
- Plan and assign work to subordinates setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work, and considering the difficulty of the assignments and capabilities of employees. Give advice, counsel or instruction to individual employees on both work and administrative matters. Ensure employees are kept informed on all matters affecting their employment. Participate in and assist with the preparation and execution of staff meetings. Interview candidates for positions in the unit, making recommendations for appointment, promotion or reassignment. Evaluate the performance of subordinates; reviewing work of staff for adequacy and progress toward goals. Establish and revise position descriptions ensuring the most effective and economical position structure is maintained. Ensure equal opportunity for all employees under their supervision in the selection of employees for training, promotion, awards and recognition, and other career development opportunities. Ensure fair and unprejudiced employment practices in the recruitment and selection of candidates for appointment. Identify development and training needs of employees; providing or making provisions for such developmental training. Share in the updating and publishing of the student/parent handbook, with emphasis on discipline and attendance. Working in collaboration with other principals, school board, parents and members of the staff, ensure instruction meets prescribed standards. Performs such duties as assigned by the superintendent.
What your background should be
- Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience. Hold a current South Dakota Principal certificate. Previous administration experience preferred. Have varsity level coaching experience.
Required Schooling / Training
- Masters degree from an accredited college or university in educational leadership.
