What you'll be doing

Staff Assistant for the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) is responsible for assisting the office in the organization and administration of federal, state and institutional financial assistance. Specifically, the position is responsible for greeting and responding to families, monitoring the financial aid application process, handling federal verification and coordinating the Federal Work-Study program. Counseling student aid applicants, aid recipients and their parent(s) with regard to the rights and responsibilities associated with financial aid. Conducting financial aid file review including ability to handle federal verification and to understand packaging principles. Managing all processes related to the federal college work study program including but not limited to, contract and time sheet processing, expenditure reporting, and supervisor training. Collaborating with various campus offices particularly admissions, the business office and the registrar. Performing other duties as assigned.

What your background should be

At least two years professional experience in financial aid. Experience working directly with students. Knowledge and experience with relational databases such as Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft, or Access. Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, and carry up to 20 lbs. in the context of regular office operations. Experience with all aspects of Federal Work-Study program.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor degree required.
