What you'll be doing

This paralegal position provides support to a number of patent attorneys in the filing and prosecution of United States and international patent applications and in other intellectual property matters, particularly those involving key aftermarket parts used on company products and others involving the rail and turbine businesses of the company. This position is responsible for directing and coordinating the analysis and verification of the accuracy of communications from the patent office and for acting to correct government errors or organize responses, all of which involve substantive property rights for the company. This position also involves gathering and utilizing an understanding of the relevant business factors driving the work of the team. The position is in frequent contact with internal and external attorneys, patent agents and inventors.

What your background should be

The ability to maintain confidentiality, strong organizational and planning skills, good interpersonal skills and personal accountability required. Applicant should be a team player, proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and experienced with patent law.

Required Schooling / Training

Associates degree and a paralegal certificate (unless associates degree is in paralegal studies) required.
