What you'll be doing

The PGY2-critical care position is designed for transition the resident from generalist pharmacy practice to a specialist in the care of critical care patients. Through direct patient care and first hand experiences the resident will acquire and expand upon their leadership, communication and problem solving skills. By practicing these skills the resident will develop a sense of professional responsibility and accountability to patients, colleagues and the profession. During this one year residency experience in the dynamic and interactive pharmacy department the resident will learn to work as a team with fellow medical professionals and develop the confidence, attitudes, integrity and knowledge needed to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes for critical care patients through rational, appropriate and economical pharmaceutical care. Throughout the year the resident will be provided with feedback regarding their performance as a clinical practitioner. The focus of the residency includes integration with the pharmacy team, reducing length of stay and cost reduction through evidence based therapy. The resident will spend adequate time in all pharmacist roles to learn how all areas of the pharmacy integrate with critical care.

What your background should be

Applicant is required to be completed intern hours as required by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy. Applicant must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Registered Pharmacist in the state of Nevada or awaiting results from the NAPLEX and MPJE from the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy. Registered Pharmacist licensure must be obtained by October 31, of the year the residency began. Healthcare BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within the first 90 days of employment required. Applicant must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Required Schooling / Training

A Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency is required.

The client is a not-for-profit hospital with a level 2 trauma center and specialists to care for almost any illness or injury.
