Case Management/Admitting RN

What you'll be doing: The case management/admitting RN is responsible for facilitating the patients hospitalization from pre-admission through the next level of care. Interfaces with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare team members to expedite medically appropriate cost-effective care. Applies clinical expertise and medical appropriateness criteria to identify appropriate level of care and resource utilization. Coordinates patient placement/bed coordination for the acute hospital units in collaboration with bed reservation and the house supervisor. Accepts and places patients for direct admits, scheduled AM admits, transfers from other facilities, ED admits from PACU and post procedure.

What your background should be: The case management/admitting RN needs to be able to effectively communicate with individual at all levels and from all backgrounds, have strong critical thinking, good cognitive and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently as well as in teams, have exceptional organizational skills, be self-motivated and disciplined, and able to set priorities appropriately and handle multiple issues concurrently. Ability to use good judgment in an emergency situation. Commitment to uphold and provide care and services in a manner congruent with the medical centers mission statement. Understanding of medicare, medical and other third party payer regulations. Understanding of current utilization/quality management principles, techniques and procedures. Knowledge of current utilization/quality management principles, techniques and procedures. Effective communication in english through reading, writing and speaking. Computer skills required. BSN required. Current CA RN license in good standing with the BRN. Current BLS certification.
