What you'll be doing

Will manage staff comprised of team Leads, project Managers and technical specialists. Establish a forward looking vision for the department to achieve substantial growth; set strategy to achieve the vision in the medium-term; develop tactical actions to implement the strategies. Manage Team Leaders and helping them adjust workloads and schedules to balance project requirements with available resources. Select and hire staff. Monitor performance of staff and provide mentoring and constructive feedback by providing staff evaluations and development plans. Develop an annual financial and sales plan for the department including development and projection of the team metrics and requirements for growth. Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the technical work and administrative processes performed in the department. Verify staff meet safety and other mandated training requirements. Manage department financials, including managing the department overhead expenditures; closely monitoring and managing the department weekly utilization and direct labour to ensure financial goals are met. Implement quality assurance and control. Contribute significantly to the expansion of existing client relationships and practices and spearheading the diversification of services within the office and the development of new relationships to achieve established operational sales goals. Prepare and implement business development programs for work with new and existing clients. Activities include planning, scheduling, client relations, pre-marketing for upcoming projects, creating innovative pursuit strategies, proposal preparation and presentations, preparing scopes of work and fee estimates, making presentations to clients, conducting interviews as the lead presenter and negotiating contracts with existing and new clients. Prepare proposals and SOQs. Provide technical direction and oversight as needed.

What your background should be

Minimum 15 years of experience in program management, planning, design, business development and department management. Minimum six years of general business/administrative experience. Must have a combination of technical, administrative, business development, and client relationship skills and well-rounded experience with a foundation in planning, engineering or architecture. Must have high-level airport planning and design experience, and be one who appreciates the nuances in each technical field and can develop successful strategies and tactics. Working knowledge of diverse client base, including federal, state, municipal and private sectors. Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor degree in a related field
