What you'll be doing

Reporting to the associate vice president for academic affairs, the director will build upon a strong foundation of student learning assessment at the program and institutional-wide levels. The director will coordinate assessment activities, provide necessary professional development for faculty and staff, and collect and report assessment data that will be actionable for departments and compliant with guidelines as specified by the southern association of colleges and schools, and the national association of schools of art and design. The director will also be tasked with the groundwork necessary for the creation of the college first faculty development office. Assist faculty in their professional development and the use of assessment to enhance their teaching as well as in their efforts to be scholars, teachers, and working artists/designers. This may entail facilitation of grant-based research; scholarship of teaching, learning, and assessment or curriculum review.

What your background should be

Experience providing faculty development initiatives including enhanced delivery, instructional design, and online learning environments. Three years of experience in the assessment of student learning. Strong verbal and written communication skills that can be used to address a wide variety of constituencies including faculty, students, and administrators. Able to work in a collaborative environment, playing a vital role in the development of an assessment culture. Knowledge of grant process including discovery and proposal writing.

Required Schooling / Training

Master degree or equivalent. Ph.D. or other appropriate terminal degree.
