What you'll be doing

Initiate sales and marketing activities, including phone calls, e-mails, online postings and face-to-face meetings, designed to identify and engage prospective new customers. Interview clients to seek the kinds of properties that meet their needs. Negotiate between buyers and sellers. Participate in open houses, advertising, networking for sales purposes. Present purchase offers to sellers. Collaborate with escrow companies, lenders, home inspectors, and pest control operators to agree to the terms and conditions of purchase agreements before closing dates. Assist clients in evaluation of mortgage options that best meet their needs. Prepare documents such as purchase agreements, representation contracts, leases, closing statements and deeds.

What your background should be

Have an understanding of percentages, basic finances, and other simple math concepts. Admin and clerical skills needed to manage files and records. Must have basic computer skills. Prospective agents must be high-school graduates and at least 18 years of age. Verbal and written communication skills, multi-tasking ability, creativity. Outstanding customer service skills a must. Possession of sales and marketing skills in order to sell effectively.
