What you'll be doing

The patient teacher cardiac rehab (PRN) provides professional nursing intervention in accordance with policy and procedure including patient education and coordination of teams of health professionals utilizing the facility. The candidate coordinates the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of pediatric hematology patient care. Interventions reflect knowledge of pediatric growth and development, sickle cell anemia, hemoglobinopathies, and transfusion management. Reviews hematology laboratory results and keeps patient records current. S/he promotes and assists in developing teaching tools, teaching guides, and information for patients in support of clinical practice of the hematology division of pediatrics. S/he assists in recruitment and enrollment of research study participants. The applicant coordinates studies with research associates including faculty, sponsors, other departments, and agencies. This position assumes technical responsibilities as dictated by study protocol in phlebotomy and preparation of specimen. Serves as an advocate and coordinator with community resource that provides services to families of children with hematological diseases, including quarterly reports to the NC state sickle cell syndrome program. Gives IV medication and PRBC transfusions, IM and subcutaneous injections.

What your background should be

The candidate with current NC RN license required. One year of nursing experience required. Experience and certification in area of specialty may be preferred or required. BSN required. Basic life support for healthcare provider (BLS HCP) from aha required. The applicant also requires other physical capabilities.
