What you'll be doing

The hiring company is seeking an academically oriented clinical or counselling psychologist to serve as the assistant chief of psychology for internship training and faculty development. The psychologist will serve as the director of the Boston consortium psychology internship program, which currently includes 20 pre-doctoral interns who are recruited nationally from top graduate training programs and assigned to training sites . The incumbent will also actively collaborate with the chief of psychology in faculty development activities and continuing education for the psychologists, have opportunity to represent psychology on relevant interdisciplinary medical centre leadership committees, act as the chief of psychology during the chiefs absence, and have considerable autonomy and flexibility in managing the responsibilities associated with the position. The successful candidate will have current or prior active involvement in the leadership or management of a psychology training program and come from a clinician scientist background.

What your background should be

Public law 96-151 codified in title 38, U.S.C.7402. Citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.). The speciality area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed and have successfully completed a professional psychology intern-ship training program that has been accredited by APA. Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a state, territory, commonwealth of the United States. At least 1 year of professional psychologist experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, and must fully meet the KSAs for that level. Ability to organize work, set priorities, delegate tasks, and meet multiple deadlines. Skill in managing and directing the work of others to accomplish program goals and objectives, and ability to devise ways to adapt work operations to new and changing programs, staffing, and budget requirements, etc. Ability to translate management goals and objectives into well coordinated and controlled work operations. Ability to establish and monitor production and performance priorities and standards. Knowledge of, and ability to appropriately utilize, evidence based practices and clinical practice guidelines and ability to guide staff in using these tools. Ability to deal effectively with individuals or groups representing widely divergent backgrounds, interests, and points of view. Ability to analyse organizational and operational problems and to develop and implement solutions that result in sound operation of the program. Experience in VA or department of defence clinical settings, national visibility in the field of psychology education and/or an active research portfolio, and experience with faculty development or mentoring are preferred.

Required Schooling / Training

Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American psychological association (APA)
