What you'll be doing

Provide supervision during loading and unloading of buses, outside breaks, passing periods, and other out of classroom activities as assigned by the supervising teacher. Maintain line of sight supervision as needed. Assist with the delivery of instructional activities as assigned and developed by certified or licensed professional practitioners. Implement communication devices or processes. Assist the teacher in implementing positive behavior plans and systems appropriate to the individual student. Provide personal assistance to students which may include dispensing of medications, meal preparation, feeding or diapering. Assist with mobility and orientation of students. Assist with informal documentation; prepare instructional materials and other clerical duties as requested. Assist in preparation, production, and maintenance of materials and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.

What your background should be

Basic knowledge of effective behavior management techniques. Ability to follow universal precautions for the maintenance of good health when working with students. Desire to work with students with disabilities. Communication and interpersonal skills. Basic math and writing skills. Organizational and record keeping skills. Participate in training activities required.

Required Schooling / Training

Associates degree; or successful completion of 48 credit hours of study at an institution of hiring education required.
