ED Registrar

What you'll be doing: Register is responsible for emergency department patients following the emergency treatment and active labor act (EMTALA) guidelines and MLH processes. Responsible for accurate selection and identification of medical record number (MRN). Interview patients to obtain accurate demographic and insurance information for registration purposes for insurance verifications and implementation of third party liability (TPL). Managed care guidelines relating to priority determination, coverage identification, and managed care requirements. Collects point of service payments to satisfy financial obligations as required. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH mission, vision and values. May perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

What your background should be: Previous work experience in admitting, patient access or similar customer service roles is required. Ability to organize or prioritize tasks and maintain control of workflow in a fast paced and multi faceted environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong spelling and grammar skills required. Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to handle stressful situations. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Certification in a health care program is preferred.
