Journeyman Painter

What you'll be doing: The incumbent is responsible for preparation, painting and inspection of ship and shipyard building. Responsibilities will include cleaning and preparing fiberglass and metal surface to be painted by removal of dirt, grease, rust, scale and old paint contaminant. Paint part, equipment, interior and exterior of ship, boat using brushes, spray gun and roller. Mix material in accordance with material data sheet. Mask and tape off necessary area. Inspect, recheck and paint area and perform touch up work as needed. Assist in sandblasting, sand removal and cleanup. Perform related task as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

What your background should be: Four or more years combined construction and shipyard painting experience required. One to two years of experience with hand brush and spray painting. Working knowledge of state, federal and local law and regulation relating to environmental issue. Must be able to use hand tool and power tool safely and efficiently.
