What you'll be doing
- Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as directed. Maintains trash and garbage collection containers. Routes trash as assigned. Responsible for the cleaning, maintenance and decorating for designated areas e.g., painting, hanging pictures, etc. Floor stripping and finishing; washing walls and furniture, shampoo carpets, cleaning light fixtures. Sanitizes washrooms and disinfects toilets, urinals and sinks. High dusts furniture, tops of doors, bookshelves, window ledges. Cuts grass, rakes and polices litter/general grounds maintenance. Provides support to other maintenance and custodial departments as directed. Repairs and maintains heating related equipment (filter changes, etc.). Performs carpentry works (installing new shelving, painting, drywall repairs, etc.). Performs other duties as assigned.
What your background should be
- Some housekeeping and maintenance experience preferred. Knowledge of floor stripping and finishing preferred. This job requires some physical efforts.
