What you'll be doing

Works from oral and written instructions, engineering drawings, and rough sketches where normal operating assignment involves a general outline of an experimental or developmental project and in which the full complement of machine tools must be utilized in order to carry assignment to completion. Analyzes the requirements of entire project, sources of information for material, operations, tolerance requirements and construction procedures. Plans sequence of operations, machines to be used and most economical method to execute work project quickly and effectively. Sets up and operates all tool room machines and grinding machines, including mounting machine attachments, grinding and setting tools in order to establish operating procedures. Plans sequence of operations and methods to completely lay out and set up work for the entire project, including temporary tooling and production aids where a thorough knowledge of finishes and machining characteristics of newer types of plastics and metals and laboratory machine shop theory is utilized. Lays out complex parts for the project, makes necessary complex calculations requiring extensive use of shop mathematics including geometry and trigonometry, establishing, when not rigidly specified, exact dimensions or more suitable configurations, or material substitutions, and progressively checks work for dimensional discrepancies using precision measuring instruments. Checks completed details for tolerance and quality requirements. Performs incidental related duties as assigned or required.

What your background should be

Ability to make form tools. Ability to set-up and run conventional and CNC machine tools. Ability to use programming software and make machine edits. Ability to obtain interim and/or final clearances (post start) US citizenship required.

Required Schooling / Training

Trade school and 10 years industry experience.
