What you'll be doing

As the SAN storage engineer lead within the storage engineering team, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to: provide technical leadership in SAN engineering/architecture discipline, including the creation & publication of a strategic vision, and the setting of technology standards for new & legacy products. Participate in or lead strategic, policy level and/or governance development for technology, and create and/or maintain standards, documentation, roadmaps and assessment of strategy and execution (baselines, performance analysis and architecture overviews/drawings/flows). Act as liaison with LOBs to identify technical opportunities and needs for new and existing business/technical models and processes. Promote the long term technical and business vision to large audiences on a regular basis, and make decisions of a global strategic nature by analyzing complex data systems and incorporating knowledge of broader business needs. Gather information and perform research on leading edge technology trends for application to business opportunities including the determination of best practices and best practice adoption. Publish technical/white papers for information dissemination, discussion, policy making, risk and impact assessment and decision making. Lead complex, cross-organization initiatives involving technical areas of expertise and interaction with senior management. Provide support to significant downtime/catastrophic events related to the area of expertise. Participate in or chair internal/external technology committees; possibly create or lead joint ventures with outside agencies or vendors in order to leverage knowledge and best practices. Develop and/or participate in specialized mentoring and/or technical development for employees in the technical discipline.

What your background should be

Minimum of 15+ years experience within engineering disciplines: storage, server OS, networking, messaging, monitoring, database, and web technologies. Minimum of 5-10+ years experience in storage engineering, broad technical experience. Deep technical expertise and understanding of SAN technologies: EMC, HDS, IBM, Cisco, Brocade. Ability to lead engineering development. Excellent communication skills-experience presenting to CTO level executives. Customer and vendor relationship management and negotiation. Creative thinker, generates ideas to drive forward. Ability to collaborate in a global matrix managed organization. Ability to challenge the status quo and drive global change. Experience working with business development and banking professionals highly desired. Experience working and influencing in a matrix managed organization highly desired. Experience with NAS and/or backup in the distributed technology space highly desired. Scripting and coding skills desired: PERL, Java, SQL, Web highly desired.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor of science highly desired.
