What you'll be doing
- Full responsibility for the overall supervision of the programs. Responsible for knowing, understanding and implementing the rules and regulations and attending the mandatory rules clinic and coaches meetings. Responsible for verifying each athlete's academic and medical eligibility. Supervise and conduct practices and contests in a safe manner. Maintain a professional appearance. Manage uniforms, equipment and facilities in a responsible manner. Notify the athletic director of annual budgetary needs. Work toward building and teaching good sportsmanship, cooperative work ethic and responsibility. Work toward developing good public relations with the parents, school, booster club and community. Communicate with the athletic director, administrators, assistant coaches, players and parents. Direct injured athletes to the trainer and report injuries to the nurse. Provide team rules and practice schedules to athletes, parents and athletic director. Submit an eligibility report and keep emergency cards on athletes with you at all times.
What your background should be
- Certificated and professionally licensed non-administrative employee preferred. Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program previous successful coaching experience in basketball. Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball and be willing to continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to basketball.
