Ground Maintenance Laborer

What you'll be doing: Cut grass, using walking type or riding mowers, trim hedges and edges around walks and flowerbeds, using hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools, prune shrubs and trees to shape to improve growth, using shears and other hand tools, sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer or insecticide. Plant grass, flowers, trees and shrubs, watering lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler system, pick up and burn or cart away leaves, paper or other litter. Load and unload trucks and other conveyances; move supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck. Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails and outbuildings. Assist with the repair of roads, walks, buildings and mechanical equipment, and may clean comfort stations, offices workshop areas, and parking lots by sweeping, washing, mopping and polishing. Ensure actions and words communicate superior internal and external customer service. Perform or assist with any assignments as required or directed. Participate in any variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.

What your background should be: Ability to follow instructions. Ability to learn mechanical care and operation of small engine machines. If needed for driving, must have a valid Florida driving license, valid insurance, reliable transportation for travel to outlying locations and the ability to be insured under the vehicle insurance policy of the company. Heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Repetitive pushing, pulling, stretching, reaching, kneeling stooping and bending.
