What you'll be doing

System administration of sun server and workstation environment. Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining UNIX workstations and servers in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures and configuration guidelines. Perform software installations and upgrades to UNIX operating systems and layered software packages and maintains them in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements. Monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum level of performance. Ensure workstations/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensure data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Support media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.

What your background should be

5-10 years of experience (contract requirement) in system administration on a medium to large-scale network, experience providing high availability solutions with sun products, experience in developing policies and procedures for managing systems, ability to develop schedules to support building and deploying systems, skilled in managing IS personnel working on a medium to large-scale network, project management, a good understanding of network principals, system troubleshooting, and the system life cycle.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor of science in computer or related field.
