What you'll be doing

Perform all electrical design tasks including lighting, power, medium and low voltage distribution and various low voltage special systems design and implementation. Instrumentation and controls knowledge a plus. Perform project related field and site assessments to obtain and document existing electrical conditions necessary to generate detailed design documents. Generate single line diagrams (SLDs), power distribution diagrams, grounding diagrams, lighting drawings, equipment and panel schedules, and other drawings necessary. Effectively plan work for self to meet design requirements and project schedules. Review project scope of work and notify project management of any perceived changes in scope that may appear during the design phase. Review the design input and communicates any ambiguous, incomplete, or conflicting information to the supplier of the input for resolution (includes processing information such as vendor drawings, marked up drawings, design basis, notes, and verbal instructions). Review design output to verify it meets design input (i.e., verify output meets project scope, is consistent with company, client, and national electrical standards).

What your background should be

Must be proficient in AutoCAD. Revit experience is a plus, and while not necessary, a willingness to learn it is. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and lighting software is required. Knowledge and understanding SKM to perform short circuit, coordination and arc flash hazard assessments is a plus. Must have a good working knowledge of the national electrical code as well as other NFPA standards. General understanding and knowledge of international code council standards (IBC, IECC, IMC etc.).
