What you'll be doing

Foster a classroom environment conducive to the long range curriculum objectives. Ensure nurturing, culturally sensitive care for each child. Foster and assess physical, social, emotional and cognitive development in each child. Provide work direction and supervision to classroom staff. Maintain behavior guidance plans for children. Assure the safety of the children and make sure families are informed and included. Maintain high level of health and safety and assure emergency procedures are known and practiced. Assist teams in maintaining files and recording keeping for government, funder and accreditation requirements, and any other administrative responsibilities as assigned. Ensure all child assessments and child portfolios are up to date and current. Assist teams in monitoring and obtaining supplies, equipment and repairs for classroom. Actively pursue professional development. Understand and interpret the YWCA mission to children, staff and families.

What your background should be

Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize the daily routines, activities, and curriculum for the classroom children and staff. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to mentor and guide staff.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor of arts.
