What you'll be doing

Develops and enforces written policies and procedures specifying the scope and contact of patient care rendered by the department. Reviews and approves all policies and procedures for compliance with those of the medical center, the nursing department and regulatory agencies. Provides for the development, maintenance, supervision, and evaluation of orientation and continuing education programs for staff. Evaluates the quality of patient care provided by staff through the support of peer review, policy/procedures, standards of practice, and evaluation of equipment, supplies, and products. Maintains and promotes effective relationships with and between patients, families, department staff, medical staff and the support staff, other health care facilities and vendors. Assists physicians and other departments to develop new services in assigned areas and identifies potential new sources of revenue and assists in the marketing of existing and new programs. Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.

What your background should be

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Strong communication, interpersonal, diplomatic and self motivation skills essential. Must be able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels within the organization.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor's degree in nursing.
