What you'll be doing
- Performs computer programming work in the designing and writing of new and/or modifying the existing computer programs to facilitate goals and meet information and automation needs of agency users. Position assignments may vary by platform, environment and language used. May involve large scale application development/maintenance and/or web applications design and development. May program and set up databases, organize web site architecture and programming website functions. Procurement and management of complex databases and software to map analyze or display epidemiological data. May involve researches documentation to learn the location of file layouts and codes programs of moderate complexity such as extracting data using logical keys. Conducts test runs, debugs programs and prepares documentation. Attends user meetings with supervision. May perform limited systems analysis under direction.
What your background should be
- Required training for programmer analyst. Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid computer programming experience in one or more programming or data base languages may substitute for the required training. In addition to any equivalent experience used as a substitution for the college degree requirement above, the PA 2 level requires two (2) additional years paid computer programming experience, including one year of analysis work.
Required Schooling / Training
- Bachelor or associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in computer science or related field including but not limited to business data programming, business systems analysis, computer accounting, computer and information systems, computer servicing technologies, information systems management, data processing, or computer engineering.
