What you'll be doing
- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances. Sets up and programs CNC mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; sets tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculates requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proves part programs. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work piece; adheres to the customer standards. Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; takes measurements; detects malfunctions; troubleshoots processes; adjusts and reprogramming controls; sharpens and replaces worn tools; adheres to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; troubleshoots malfunctions.
What your background should be
- Must have 5 years of experience programming and machining with CNC Mill. Be able to program and setup using Fanuc controls with G & M Codes. Competent skills using micrometers, calipers, indicators and other inspection gages. Machinist must have his own tools.
