What you'll be doing

You will perform the full range of work as a journeyman carpenter. Construct, modify and repair wood and wood substitute items and structures such as framework, doors, roofs, exterior siding, building additions, etc. Plan and accomplish the work from initial layout to final assembly, interpreting and applying plans, blueprints and specifications. Determine methods, technique, materials and sequences best suited to the job. Use tools and equipment such as framing, bevel and combination squares, all types of wood cutting power and hand saws, calipers and other common hand tools and power tools. Lead lower graded employees assigned to assist with tasks. You may also perform other related duties such as concrete work, masonry, and painting.

What your background should be

This job requires working while standing, kneeling, and occasionally lying down or crawling under floors. Must lift heavy (to 100pounds) timbers, full sheets of plywood and move 55 gallon drums of thinner and solvent. Must work on roofs, lift roofing rolls and climb ladders with loads. Must drive nails over sustained periods of time or trowel cement for long periods. Must have the ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
