What you'll be doing
- Actively participate in maintaining and improving quality improvement initiatives regarding physician. Billing computer system and patient satisfaction survey. Maintain high level of competence on physician. Attend departmental meetings. Actively participate as a team member in resolution of problems as identified. Analyze current procedures, bringing suggestions for improvement to the attention of team members and supervisor for consideration. Assist in filing charts and retrieving charts in preparation for next day. Assist in filing lab reports, etc. Clean and autoclave contaminated instruments and other supplies. Keep exam rooms supplied and in order. Order medical supplies in a timely fashion. Dispose of bio hazardous waste and regular waste. Check patients height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and temperature. Ascertain patients chief complains and describes same in chart accurately and succinctly. Record drug allergies and present medications. Perform electrocardiograms, phlebotomies, nebulizers, immunizations and injections. Prepare sterile fields with instruments, sutures for minor surgery. Prepare room for gynecological exams with appropriate supplies. Measure length, head circumference and weigh infants prior to well baby check ups.
What your background should be
- Two years similar experience. BLS or CPR certification. Requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours at a time). Continually uses fingers for patient care, writing and handling patient charts. Routinely uses upper extremities; occasionally lift items up to 25 pounds. Occasionally push cart with supplies up to 30 pounds. Occasionally push wheelchair with patient weighing up to 325 pounds. Stoop, bend and reach above shoulder level regularly.
Required Schooling / Training
- Bachelor degree.
