Natural Gas Foreman

What you'll be doing: Plan, organize and coordinate the activities of the gas and street department under the direction of the natural gas supervisor. Lead a small crew of service workers in routine installation/maintenance of mains and services. Assist in training of new employees; receives work orders, plans and assigns work for subordinates. Maintain daily reports and records on gas as apply to daily job functions and review and evaluate the work of subordinate employees. Prepare and request for equipment, supplies and materials. Enforce safety rules and other accident prevention measures. Install and repair gas mains and services. Digs and fills ditches, loads dirt, asphalt, clay, gravel and other construction materials. Initiate gas services and perform customer appliance safety checks as well as lighting of various gas appliances. Perform leak repairs on gas meters and service lines with minimum supervision. Assist with the installation of valves and regulator stations and assemblies. Operate back hoe, truck, trailer, boring machine, trencher, butt fusion machine, mini fusion machine, saws, etc.

What your background should be: Must have knowledge of materials, methods, practices and equipment used in natural gas facilities maintenance and repair activities. Ability to communicate verbally using the English language. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to read and interpret sketches, diagrams, blueprints and charts. Must have knowledge of approved methods and tools used in gas piping, installation and maintenance work. Experience in heavy manual labor and the use of hand and light power tools preferable in the gas system area. Must have valid class a commercial driving license.
