What you'll be doing

Assesses health status (through advanced physical examination and medical history) and designs individualized health care management plans in collaboration with staff nurses, physicians and other health professionals. Manages health care of neonates within protocols mutually agreed upon by physician and nursing personnel. Identifies abnormal findings early and initiates appropriate intervention. Assesses and provides support for the psychosocial needs of the family unit. Provides neonatal health management, functioning within the guidelines of the nurse practice act, regulatory agencies and policies and procedures of the hospital. Provides and assesses effectiveness of patient and family education. Serves as a role model/clinical resource in all aspects of job performance and human relation skills. Assesses own practice needs, as well as those of the other members of the health care team, and develops methods to meet those needs. Participates on committees and in research as appropriate.

What your background should be

Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a neonatal intensive care nursery. Basic life support for healthcare provider (BLS HCP) from AHA is required. Applicant must be able to respond quickly to change in patient and unit/clinic conditions.

Required Schooling / Training

BS in nursing required.
