What you'll be doing
- Files federal, state and local payroll taxes in excess of 200 federal employee identification numbers (FEINS). Assures accurate and timely operation of tax deposits and payroll tax reporting. Applies for federal, local and state tax IDs for each site/division. Responds to and resolves notices from tax agencies. Maintains relationships with tax vendors. Performs process efficiencies and improvements. Performs set-up of all jurisdiction accounts with states and local entities. Researches and analyzes regulations regarding taxes and reporting. Posts payroll entries to the general ledger (G/L). Researches and responds to questions from the field regarding tax and G/L issues. Reconciles payroll tax G/L accounts monthly. Assists in system testing software upgrades and patches for all necessary tax applications. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
What your background should be
- At least 3 years of tax reconciliation experience. Experience working with payroll practices and laws. Thorough knowledge of federal and state tax laws governing payroll withholdings, remittance and reporting. Advanced knowledge of how to calculate federal and state taxable income. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong ethics and the ability to keep information confidential. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Ability to analyze and interpret complex problems.
Required Schooling / Training
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
