What you'll be doing
- Abstracts information from the medical record of each inpatient, outpatient and emergency department visit into the computerized medical record database. Ensures accuary and integrity in the abstracted and audited patient information, which is used for patient care and facility financial planning. Maintains statistical information for all hospital departments. Accountable for assigning diagnosis and procedure codes from the ICD9CM classification of diseases and CPT current procedural terminology. Ensures that medical records are coded in an accurate and timely manner. Entails access to confidential information such as PHI, therefore, must demonstrate ethical behavior and respect for security and privacy.
