What you'll be doing

Coordinate and supervise a crew of ground workers and foremen with landscaping and grounds maintenance activities. Provide normal care of lawns, shrubbery, trees, walks, parking areas and fence lines. Prepare schedules for cutting, fertilizing, liming, seeding, and application of herbicides, pruning, etc.. Observe and report any signs of abnormal development in lawns, shrubs, trees, etc., and recommend improvements as needed. Ensure crew and staff time sheet accuracy and timeliness. Review and initial, or sign time sheets, ensure proper use of leave, and authorize overtime. Ensure completion and compliance with all other administrative paperwork and/or procedures, as required, to include security measures. Act as a first contact in case of an emergency, accident, incident, or worker problem at the contract site. Maintain daily records of security, proper use of supplies, equipment, and vehicles as part of the regularly scheduled inspection process. Attend meetings, in service and conferences as required to keep abreast of the landscape industry and to enhance management skills. Coordinate and assist with snow removal. Other duties as assigned.

What your background should be

Must have at least five years of progressive experience in grounds work, horticultural skills, and applicable equipment knowledge. Three years of supervisory skills preferred. Pesticide certification desired. Must be able to pass security clearance. Must be able to work flexible hours with some nights and weekends (and overtime) may be required. Clean driving record and valid license required.
