What you'll be doing

The client company is currently looking for a substance abuse counselor intern. As a substance abuse counselor intern, candidate will report to the director of substance abuse counseling. The substance abuse counselor intern will perform a treatment function and is the primary provider of clinical services to clients. Maintain accountability for the client as established through the funding source, and according to agency policy. The substance abuse counselor is responsible for conducting risk and needs assessments, developing service plans for all clients assigned to their caseload and implementing those plans subject to review by the treatment team; and approval of the director of substance abuse counseling. Perform other duties as assigned.

What your background should be

The Candidate in this position must have LCADC or CADC certification. Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills and have an ability to interact appropriately with clientele. Knowledge of social learning theory, cognitive behavioral intervention and approaches is preferable. Basic computer skills are preferred. Skilled in assessment and evaluation, willingness to work flexible hours, which may include weekends and evenings and demonstrated competencies in training, group interaction, and mentoring.
