What you'll be doing

The regulatory compliance senior advisor works closely with legal, business controls, and specific business units to provide expertise on regulatory compliance matters, assess and measure compliance and related risks, and monitor and test the adequacy of dfs compliance control environment. Research, interpret and apply laws and regulations in defining requirements for the business, consulting with the legal department as needed. Develop and perform holistic end-to-end compliance reviews of products and business processes to determine non-compliance with federal and state laws. Advise compliance management of issues and recommend corrective actions. Solution-oriented collaboration with business partners on the implementation of regulatory requirements. Enhance the development and implementation of compliance protocols as new regulations emerge and laws change. Assist business units in developing preventive controls to ensure compliance. Evaluate and revise compliance requirements in critical policies for consumer and commercial products. Analyze data/information (i.e., complaints) to identify patterns and trends of non-compliance and assist business units in taking corrective action. Assist in internal and external audits of dfs and provide support for audits of third-parties.

What your background should be

4 to 7 years of related compliance experience, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education, related training, and practical experience. Strong working knowledge of the us regulatory compliance requirements in a financial services organization for consumer and commercial credit card, and, experience in commercial lease/loan products is beneficial. Strong working knowledge of regulations: (ex, tila, ecoa, fair lending, efta, fcra, fdcpa, federal and state udaap, bsa / aml/ofac, reg. M.). Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment and the ability to make sound decisions. Ability to handle a fast paced environment and successfully meet established project deadlines. Strong problem solving skills. In addition to regulatory compliance, subject matter expertise in some facet of the banking/ financial services industry is desired. Good organization and project management skills.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor degree in finance, business, law or related field or equivalent.
