What you'll be doing

Responsible for safety management of the project. Surveys construction projects to identify and evaluate physical conditions, safety practices, hazardous situations and compliance with established safety standards. Reviews history of accidents and claims, and prepares reports and recommendations as required. Coordinates safety of the project as a whole schedule, loss history, upcoming activities, etc. and provides stimulus for proactive loss control efforts. Reviews reports and presents corrective actions for specific situations identified by outside agencies. Conducts accident investigations and provide recommendations for corrective/preventive action. Assists in the development and implementation of standardized safety programs. Interfaces with insurance brokers, carriers, contractors and other safety professionals to direct and improve effectiveness of safety standards, codes and regulations. Coordinates, develops and/or conducts weekly safety meeting. Reviews subcontractor safety program to assure compliance with project and owners control insurance program safety standards. Assures the proper level of training for subcontractors. Assures the proper use of productive equipment.

What your background should be

Minimum 5 years of high risk construction experience is required. Basic computer (Word, Excel, etc.) and office equipment skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to develop and conduct presentations for safety training purpose. Ability to prepare administrative and technical reports. Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequence of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals. Ability to interpret and apply federal and state and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

Required Schooling / Training

College degree.
