What you'll be doing

Interface with MBTA safety managers as well as contractor safety representatives to foster a working relationship to help in the overall safety management of the project. Monitor safety compliance of contractors as well as the joint venture employees. Attend meetings with the project staff and contractor representatives to clearly define their role within the confines of the project safety program. Review contractor site specific safety programs for completeness and compliance with project policies. Audit contractors to monitor for compliance to their site specific safety programs for stated safety practices, pre task planning, JHA implementation as well as required training. Review any incident reports generated by contractors and follow up to monitor for compliance with stated corrective actions. Analyze incident and accident trends in order to prevent recurrence. Notify, record and prepare written reports of any non-compliance or unsafe practices for immediate correction actions. Stop at once any violation or unsafe practice. Attend owner meetings to brief the management team on safety compliance on the project as well as to keep informed of the progress of the job. Establish and maintain all required job safety records required of the program management team. Educate and advise project staff on safety guidelines and policies. Actively promote safety program compliance at project sites.

What your background should be

Must possess an OSHA 30 hour card as well as have at least a minimum of five (5) years of safety experience or a combination of education or multiple years experience in construction, with a working knowledge of safety principles and techniques. Holding a CHST or other professional certification is a plus. Knowledge of OSHA construction standards is required. Strong organizational, management, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

Required Schooling / Training

A four year degree in safety and health or equivalent.
