What you'll be doing

As a market development representative (MDR) will be responsible for driving business development and strategic sales efforts for the Cloudant DBaaS solution. The MDR must be a sales person who works effectively in a driven and distributed team environment. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated knowledge of and experience in open-source software and SaaS sales models, and a proven track record of closing deals in early markets. You will work closely with the extended sales team (Cloudant specialty reps, company IM portfolio sellers, sales management) with global reach and work with customers building the next generation of distributed, large-scale, redundant web and mobile applications. Structure and drive an efficient sales cycle from raw lead through close. Improvise as needed to close business while developing sales templates, processes, and forecast models. Analyze customer pain points and work with engineering to optimize solutions. Assist field sales with deals. Monitor overages and sell larger subscription licenses. Build long-term profitable relationships with customers. Introduce cloudant to customers & prospects, describe its benefits, and recommend solutions. Achieve all assigned revenue and other objectives as assigned by management.

What your background should be

At least 3 years experience in enterprise technical software sales. At least 6 months experience in corporate prospecting experience. At least 1 year experience in demonstrated experience in cold calling and lead generation. At least 1 year experience in demonstrated organization and time management experience. Basic knowledge in CRM tool experience. Demonstrated written, verbal, and presentation skills. Motivation, enthusiasm and ability to work with a group of peers. Previous sales methodology training and sales force.com experience a plus. Computer proficiency in office suite and web-based collaboration tools. Commitment to stay current with SaaS, NoSQL, industry/sector, and competitor trends.
