What you'll be doing
- Operates heavy and complex equipment, such as cranes, yard tractors, bulldozers, compactor/excavators or wheel loaders in a safe and effective manner. Operates assigned equipment in excavating, loading, spreading, covering and compacting earth and/or solid waste safely and efficiently. Operates assigned equipment in unloading coal cars, loading into coal storage and unloading ash to disposal trailer, as required and/or requested. Operates assigned equipment for the transfer of rdf from the bunker, to the feed hoppers for the mixing of refuse ensuring a relatively constant heating value. Inspects equipment for proper operating condition and loose or worn parts, as assigned. Reports defects or damage to equipment to the appropriate authority. Observes instruments while vehicle is in motion. Grades, compacts, and shapes earth and/or waste. Operates equipment in spreading, compacting and covering. Operates coal conveyor system according to safety practices and procedures as requested and/or required. Responsible for the proper use, loading, operation and cleanliness of the equipment. Performs routine clerical duties such as completing station logs, field and time reports and requisitions. Loads trailers in a safe and efficient manner. Participates in cleanup activities as directed. Performs related work as required. Works rotating shift. Works overtime as required.
What your background should be
- Six months experience operating mobile equipment. Mechanical abilities sufficient to perform equipment maintenance, minor repairs and general preventative maintenance. Works rotating shift. Licenses as required by local, state, federal, environmental and/or health/safety regulatory agencies.
Required Schooling / Training
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
