What you'll be doing

Develop, review, track, and provide justified recommendations for state/regional policy, plans, laws, rules, and administrative orders affecting waste management, including county solid waste ordinance modifications. Research and develop policy, goals, objectives, and strategies for the metropolitan solid waste-management policy plan and the county and regional solid waste master plans. Convene and engage a solid waste management advisory committee and other stakeholder groups for county master plan development and implementation. Administer and report on state grants (SCORE, LRDG, CERT, and HHW). Manage the county recycling/organics diversion programs for schools and county/city parks. Lead and participate in and lead solid waste management coordinating board committees. Perform other duties as assigned.

What your background should be

Two to ten years of experience in planning, coordinating, and implementing environmental programs. Valid driving license required. Direct work experience in waste management preferred. Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, as well as regulatory processes. Knowledge of government functions and organizations affecting county government.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor degree.
