What you'll be doing
- Senior Data Consultant leads significant contributions or provides technical leadership to high visibility projects to identify. Resolve issues of strategic importance to the organization. Interface regularly with senior management to produce timely & valuable results. Direct the development of outcomes & process measures, including technical specifications, to enable population measurement, guideline implementation, & evaluation. Build & maintain complex statistical routines using macros, vendor software, & software written by self & others. Test & maintain data integrity across multiple databases (internal SAS, DB2, VSAM; external: Adobe, Excel, SAS parsing routines, COBOL). Design research plans for data gathering & analysis participates significantly in interpreting analyses & developing action plans accordingly. Defines & frames complex multi-dimensional healthcare issues & develops time tables/processes for decision-making. Translate needs, issues, & ideas into effective strategies & action plans. Formulate specific implementation plans & evaluates the effectiveness of actions/programs implemented. Develop creative alternative solutions. Sets the strategic direction of projects & determines goals & priorities with team, clients, or project management sponsors. May participate in the development & management of the department, including coaching & recruiting for consultants/analysts & other departmental activities. Other duties as assigned.
What your background should be
- Minimum five years programming in SAS, SQL, VBA, Dot net or equivalent statistical analytical programming language and related analytical consulting experience. Experience with analytical manipulation and interpretation of large databases and MVS/TSO operating systems. Exceptional analytic and critical thinking skills, writing skills, communication skills, consulting skills, and ability to work within a team. Ability to express complex analytical and technical information to senior management or to audiences with clinical training. Proven leadership in consulting for some areas, project management. Must exhibit efficiency, collaboration and candor, openness, and results orientation. Microsoft Office skills required. Knowledge of JCL strongly preferred. Five or more years experience in as an IBM BI Cognos System Administrator. MS SQL Server SysDBA experience essential. Experience with IBM Cognos Version 10.1 and above preferred including upgrades to Cognos Software. Knowledge of Cognos framework manager, transformer, data manager and OLAP tools. Knowledge of database connection software to MS SQL Oracle, TeraData, DB2 and sequential file systems. Knowledge of Windows server administration. Certification in Cognos BI administration preferred.
Required Schooling / Training
- Master degree in economics, finance, health care administration, public health administration, statistics, mathematics, operations research, or related field required, or equivalent Bachelor degree in CS/Information Systems with two years additional work experience.
