What you'll be doing
- The Licensed Practical Nurse is a professional nurse who performs nursing care and assists with planning and implementing care for both inpatients and outpatients in the outpatient clinic under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists in maintaining a safe work environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. Provides care in a holistic approach. Maintain clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the ages, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served. Demonstrate knowledge that enables the following: documentation of patient observations, treatments, patient response to treatment and nursing care utilizing the nursing process; participates actively in treatment and assisting with procedures for inpatients and outpatients; and actively participates in discharge planning. Collaborate with the Registered Nurse or Physician to provide continuity of care for inpatients and outpatients. Participate with the Registered Nurse in providing an assessment of each patient in a timely manner. Administer prescribed medications per department procedure. Reinforces patient instructions in therapeutic techniques based on individual patient need and disability. Communicate with the referring physician, patient, family and home health agencies with the recommendation for follow up services. Organizes workload and prioritizes responsibilities to ensure care delivery in a timely and efficient manner. Assist with scheduling inpatients and outpatients for procedures, studies and clinic appointments.
What your background should be
- Current North Carolina Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Minimum of one year of experience in rehabilitation. Experience in outpatient clinic setting preferred. BLS HCP from AHA certification required. This position requires sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 51 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment and supplies. Must speak fluent English. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell and touch. Critical thinking and ability to concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in-patient and service area conditions. Hours are occasionally long or irregular. Work environment is indoors.
Required Schooling / Training
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
