What you'll be doing

Sr. Maintenance Worker (Electrician) performs a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work in electrical and other related areas. Perform a full range of skilled electrical maintenance work involved in the installation, repair and alteration of electrical equipment and lighting and wiring systems. Receive work orders; confer with supervisors and building administrators to determine work priorities; confer with originators regarding desired finished product; determine exact specifications of work requested; estimate supplies, materials and costs of repair projects; requisition necessary materials, parts, supplies, tools and equipment. Verify proposed electrical circuitry installation for compliance with pertinent codes and regulations; install circuitry in compliance with national electrical code; ensure safety standard maintained throughout the process. Diagnose and trouble shoot electrical wiring and/or lighting problems using visual inspection, specialized equipment or architectural plans/diagrams of electrical circuits. Diagnose, repair, or replace pump motors, timers and relays; analyze and draw motor control circuits, interlocks and other systems for sprinkler and fire alarm systems, garage doors, air compressors and related systems. Install, bend and pull electrical conduit, IMC, EMT and non-metallic conduit; install surface metal raceways, gutters and floor ducts. Connect power transformers, 3 phase and single phase, switchboards, panel boards and shunt trip breakers. Perform repairs by soldering electrical connectors or unit replacement; replace ballasts, switches, fixtures, or wiring; ensure proper operation prior to departure. Maintain records of work performed; maintain records and inventory of materials, supplies, tools and equipment; prepare and submit reports. Operate heavy equipment when required; operate light trucks, trailers, or other equipment to move, haul and deliver materials, equipment and maintenance supplies; load and unload materials and equipment. Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment necessary in the performance of assigned duties, including amp-voltmeter, test light, amp-robe, drills and soldering iron. Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What your background should be

Four years of electrical and related building maintenance trades experience; formal or informal education training; which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance supplemented by completion of a formal apprenticeship program; possess an appropriate, valid driver license. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Ability to perform a full range of skilled electrical and related maintenance and repair duties under minimal supervision. Interpret and apply the policies, procedures, laws, codes and regulations pertaining to assigned programs and functions. Maintain and repair buildings systems. Read, interpret and apply a wide variety of technical information from manuals, drawings, specifications, layouts, blueprints and schematics. Occupational hazards and standard safety practices necessary in the area of maintenance and repair work. Required basic mathematical principles.
