What you'll be doing

Scheduling and canceling patient appointments. Checking-in and checking-out patients. Entering charges and payments. Answering the telephone. Verifying patient insurance and demographics. Collection of co-payments/coinsurance and personal balances. Perform selected administrative duties and assists nursing staff. May collect patient specimens. Take patient histories and vital signs. Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments. Give injections, and applies casts, splints, and dressings, as applicable. Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization. Assist physician in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals. Perform other duties as required. Must read, understand, and adhere to all physician services policies and procedures. Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct and mission and value statement.

What your background should be

Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant program, Unit Secretary or transfer from a non nursing unit/dept. Prefer experience in an acute care hospital setting. Works autonomously and with supervision. Interfaces with the public, physicians, staff, patients and administration and ancillary/support department representative. Maintains confidentiality of patients medical records. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Required Schooling / Training

High school diploma or equivalent.
