What you'll be doing

Install and configure of application servers and layered products. Root cause analysis. Product planning related to upgrades and fix packs. Development of scripts to automate routine functions. Design and document installation and support procedures. Support performance test (PVS). Support of weekend releases and evening/overnight activities. Support of testing environments and test teams. Execution of test scripts. Work closely with application development teams to design solutions and resolve issues. Open and manage service tickets with vendors to resolve product related issues. Develop build standards and documentation. Stay abreast of product trends and new releases. Recommend upgrades and develop approach. Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation. Support the engineering staff on the design, installation, configuration and operational support of middleware products. Troubleshoot and problem resolution. Produce and maintain environment and team documentation. Plan and document disaster recovery procedures and performing these recovery procedures in a disaster exercise. Identify and recommend of opportunities for operational improvements. Support the definition and implementation of procedures and automation that will maximize engineering and operating efficiency for application integration technologies.

What your background should be

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience implementing and managing application environments on multiple Unix platforms and application servers, such as Linux and AIX, and using products such as websphere process server, process center, business monitor, websphere application server, MQ series and message broker. Experience with Oracle ODSI and WebLogic are a plus. Experience developing Java applications is desirable. Must be able to work closely with development teams on efficient implementation models for Java applications, how to test them and how to tune the infrastructure for efficient performance. Strong hands on experience administering and configuring one or more middleware.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor degree or higher strongly preferred in technical/business areas.
