What you'll be doing

Assistant Athletic Director will coordinate all secondary school athletic programs including educating coaches to athletic department policies. Assist with preparation of the athletic budget. Review operating budget periodically to analyze trends affecting budget needs. Assist in maintaining records/spreadsheets of each schools coaches, assignments and stipends. Manage the procedures of handling tickets and cash for the department and interface with district-facility stadium managers to monitor and record attendance and ticket sales data. Process and maintain excel spreadsheets for game shares, ticket reports, officials payments, entry fees and payments to the UIL. Provide advice to athletic coordinators, principals, and coaches regarding district and UIL athletic policies. Develop sports plans, schedules and oversee programs of assigned sports for all secondary schools. Provide clinics and workshops for coaches of assigned sports. Coordinate with teams involved in play-off games; negotiate ticket prices, officials, and sites for the events of assigned sports. Assist the director of Athletics in the following areas: game scheduling, transportation, game management coordination, direct and supervision of all events in the sports assigned. Keep abreast of technical, legislative, and professional trends and developments related to athletic programs, and disseminate information to appropriate district personnel. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

What your background should be

This position required minimum six years of directly related experience in athletic programs. Knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program. Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing athletics. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to negotiate with athletic directors and coaches from other school districts regarding UIL contests and games. Strong organizational, communication, management, public relations, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position. Excellent computer skills with knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office Professional, athletic management software and the internet.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor Degree preferred from an accredited university in a directly related field.
