What you'll be doing
- Developing and editing content across a variety of formats, including print and digital editions, e-newsletters, blogs, and social media outlets. Managing submissions and columnists. Editing press releases and entering content into proprietary content management system. Editing articles for each issue, as well as soliciting photographs. Researching, compiling, and promoting daily news for the pfonline.com website. Creating web-exclusive content. Maintaining the products finishing press release inbox. Reading and evaluating spec and query letters for the editor-in-chief. Performing other editorial duties, including photo and article research, fact checking, proofreading, and handling permissions. Attending events on behalf of the magazine (some travel required).
What your background should be
- The right person for this job will be smart and self-driven. At least three years of experience editing for print and/or online magazines or newspapers. Excellent journalistic writing, developmental editing, and communication skills. Thorough knowledge of AP style. Strong computer skills, especially in content management systems and InDesign. Organization skills with attention to detail. Familiarity with social media platforms (twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) cooperative, enthusiastic attitude and culturally speaking.
