What you'll be doing

Lead the costume shop staff in patterning, building and alterations of costumes, headpieces and shoes while maintaining the highest level of quality and continuity in production. Manage the costume construction department staff: develop, manage and document training of staff; oversee time and attendance for all employees; plan, generate and manage weekly schedules for costume shop personnel; conduct pre-shift meetings with staff; define and maintain a positive and productive work environment. Follow and emphasize to staff all safety, health and security rules and practices. Manage budgets and oversee the supply, replacement and inventory of consumables. Work in liaison with the head of wardrobe & costume construction shop to coordinate performer costume fittings. Oversee the research, development and purchasing of materials and supplies for new costume looks requested or special looks requested for PR events. Maintain and update costume bibles, inventories, purchasing records and all other associated documentation.

What your background should be

Minimum two (2) years of experience working as a costume shop manager or director. Some knowledge of working with silicone products, painting, dying and other craft techniques is an asset. Ability to work to an ambitious schedule in relation to production. Must possess excellent problem solving skills and strong interpersonal skills with proven talents in leadership, safety and teamwork. Must possess excellent time management skills. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills. Must have excellent knowledge of PC based computer systems and MS Office software.

Required Schooling / Training

High school diploma or equivalent.
