What you'll be doing
- Provide senior level, highly complex data analysis and BusinessObjects dashboard and universe development support in creating new dashboards or universes or modifying existing dashboards or universes on an as needed basis, using established standards across multiple business line areas. Assist in the training and knowledge transfer of business intelligence dashboards best practices to junior staff members. Receive and troubleshoot critical technical issues reported against designated DW and BI applications. Research, manage, and coordinate resolution of complex issues through completion. Build new Xcelsius dashboard applications utilizing BusinessObjects Xcelsius 2008/4.0/4.1. Build new universes utilizing BusinessObjects Universe Designer XI 3.1/4.0/4.1. Provide solutions, approaches, and improvements as required in the production environment, and provide direction to the members of the DW team working simultaneously with cross-departmental teams: architecture team, development team, database and Unix administrators, account executives, project leads, operations, vendor it contacts and server, network personnel. Proactively monitor DW & BI applications for meeting and ensuring customer defined expectations. Responsible for communication with internal customers from business organizations for resolution of day to day issues in DW applications and BusinessObjects applications. Ensure knowledge transition from development teams on applications moving to production support. Participate in production migrations and upgrades, patches for BOBJ XI3.1/4.0/4.1, develop processes for sustaining the DW and BI environment and ensure implementation of the same. Other IT support related tasks as deemed appropriate by management.
What your background should be
- Five plus years of technical experience in data warehouse and business intelligence environments. Five plus years experience developing business intelligence reporting solutions using BusinessObjects Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, QAAWS and/or Live Office, or similar business intelligence development tools. Three years experience developing BusinessObjects universes and dashboard solutions using Universe Designer XI 3.1/4.0/4.1 and Crystal Xcelsius/2008/SAP dashboards. Three plus years of proven technical experience developing BI reports using Web Intelligence XI. Three plus years of proven technical experience developing universes using Universe Designer XI. Exhibited extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of BusinessObjects universe, dashboard development, data modeling and systems design, or similar business intelligence development tools. Proven experience working with the system development life cycle (SDLC) process as it applies to the development and quality assurance of all task artifacts, processes and activities. Experienced in data processing, data modeling and flow-charting methodologies. Three plus years of experience with Oracle PL / SQL required. Five plus years of experience with SQL (Oracle, MS SQL or DB2) required. Previous experience with working in a high paced, high pressure Production Support environment. Proven analytical and problem solving skills for assessment of complex production support issues and recommend/implement effective solutions. Previous experience in using IT ticketing processes for managing incidents and issue resolution and conversant with established change control/change management standards. Previous experience in defining process for production support and implementation and tracking of processes internal to the team. Other software desired includes, MS Office products, MS Project, Visio, TOAD, SQL Navigator, ERWin (or other data modeling solution). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work on multiple projects and assignments simultaneously and in a team environment.
Required Schooling / Training
- Bachelors degree required.
