What you'll be doing

Generates and processes all activity related to Medicare or Medicaid or passport billing on a monthly basis. Processes 81as and other information transactions. Processes secondary Medicare or Medicaid or passport billing. Processes Medicare physician billing. Processes map forms and other information transactions. Generates monthly billing and electronic file. Utilizes on-line look and processing capabilities to monitor and fix problems. Handles vendor inquiry on hospital or nursing home billings. Generates re-billing efforts if needed. Enters write-offs or adjustments as appropriate. Monitors progress with Medicare or Medicaid or passport as required. Collaboration works with benefits coordinator to resolve authorization issues. Handles inquiries from patients, staff and hospital or nursing home providers regarding billing issues and problems. Informs admissions team of paperwork status. Professional efficiency reviews status changes for accuracy and completeness and makes updates to the status module as appropriate. Reviews invoices from hospitals for accuracy and ensures that all stays have been billed appropriately to Medicaid or passport. Reviews invoices from nursing homes for room and board stays for accuracy and ensures that all stays have been billed appropriately to Medicaid or passport and that the appropriate patient liability is recorded. Produces the accounting cover sheets for further processing or approval of hospital or nursing home bills. Follows up and analyzes outstanding patient accounts and takes necessary action to clear the account. Performs other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

What your background should be

Minimum 2-4 years of medical billing or other medical field related experience, including Medicare, Medicaid and other third parties required. 3-5 years of general office experience required.

Required Schooling / Training

High school diploma required.
