What you'll be doing: As a buyer, the person will plan, develop and manage the supplier base on quality, cost and logistical issues within his/her span of control whilst developing future strategies to support North American Motor Graders business plans which are vital to long term corporate goals. Responsibilities of the incumbent may include, but are not limited to: make buying decisions; negotiate short and long term commitments with suppliers, including sourcing decisions, material availability, quality, cost and overall direction and allocation of resources; provide guidance and support for quality, product reliability, procurement, new product introduction, planning support, cost, tooling, new technology, supplier certification, design and development, manufacturability, supplier evaluation and reject material disposition. Initiate supplier base management techniques to ensure a reliable supplier family capable of meeting the plant needs. This involves the evaluation of current and potential suppliers in terms of financial status, capacity etc. Identify and implement methods to assure suppliers are maintaining equal pace with the company in communication, management and technical advancements.

What your background should be: 5+ years of purchasing experience is asked. The applicant requires having in-depth understanding of supplier base utilization and development. Applicant must be able to communicate and work at all levels of personnel inside and outside the company. Purchasing or supply chain certification a plus. Previous experience with SAP/Lognet, strong communication and presentation skills and previous experience with sourcing are desired. A technical background would be beneficial.
