What you'll be doing

The carpenter will construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of concrete, wood, plywood, wallboard and other materials using carpenters hand and power tools as directed by the project superintendent. Review the following with superintendent, study blueprints, sketches, specifications, submittals and shop drawings for info on type of material required, such as lumbar, concrete, rebar or wallboard, etc. Select specified type of lumbar or other materials. Assist super/lead with layout using builders level, rule and framing square. Assist super/lead with setting up transit to perform layout. Place tie-reinforcing steel according to placement drawings. layout and erect structural framework, install partitions and lay sub floor. verify trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenters level. mark cutting and assembly lines on materials, shape materials and fasten them with nails, screws, dowel pins or glue. Demolish foundations, concrete slabs, partitions, floor covering, ceiling, etc. using hand and power tools as directed. Construct and erect forms and chutes for pouring concrete. Use hand tools to dig and shape ground in preparation for placement of concrete. Place and finish concrete. Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level. Operate equipment (i.e. backhoes, compactors, lulls, etc.) as directed. Perform carpentry work in construction of walk-in freezers and environmental test chambers. layout and build stairs. layout and install cabinet work. ability to patch drywall. Fit and install window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim and finish hardware. Apply shock-absorbing, sound-deadening and decorative paneling to ceiling and walls. Ensure workplace safety

5+ years commercial/industrial carpentry experience.
